Pirates, Separatists or Kidnappers?

I want to get from Nigeria to Cameroon. My options are the sea and two routes overland. Other travellers tell me about long boat journeys and rough seas. There are warnings about piracy too. My heavy motorcycle on a little boat? I would rather keep looking.
