New Route, Wrong Visas

My plan sounds sensible: through Mali and Burkina Faso to Benin, crossing as few borders as possible and making up a little time. Then the warnings about the route through Burkina Faso start piling up. I cross the country off my route. There is an audible sigh of relief back home.
